(OUB PAELIAMENTABY REPORTER) Ranfurly’a Term of Office.
Wellington, This Day.
The Government have requested the Colonial OJEce to extend the term of office of Lord Ranfurly for a farther term. Charitable Aid Board Bill.
Offing to the strong opposition raised, last night to the Hospital and Charitable Aid Boards Bill it will probably be abandoned. The Counties Bill. After sitting for some weeks considering the Counties Bill, the decision arrived at by the Local Government Committee to-day was to report to the House that it will not be proceeded with. The Premier opposed the resolution. The ’Frisco Service and Tariff. It was pointed out by the Hon Geo. McLean at the Industrial Association dinner last night, that Sprccklos Coy are to receive £15,000 per annum for New Zealand to compete with the Union Company between Auckland and Sydney. The Chairman of Directors of the Union Co, further siid that the Federal Tariff would seriously affect his company. C mplaints had been made by New Zealanders against the tariff, but a comparison would show it was not unlike the tariff in force in this Colony. The New Zealand tariff should be put in order before any complaints were made from this side against the Commonwealth.
