New Plymouth, This Day. The Chamber of Commerce to-night passed the following resolution in response to the Premier’s telegram:— “That although tha Chamber deprecates the action of the Federal Government in endeavoring to close the door to many products of this colony by the imposition of a prohibitory tariff, yet it is advisable that reprisals in the shade of a tariff war should be instituted, ai the bulk of our imports, coa', hardwood, and fruit, provide for return freights for vessels in the inte ciloniil trade, whereby our products arc conveyed to Australian markets at minimum rates.” A further suggestion that nogotations be entered into by the respective Governments to establish reciprocal treaties whereby the uatural products of each colony could enter the other free of duty was lost.
