A PECULIAR CASE.

Nelson, Oct 10.
On Tuesday a young man named Howard, aged 18, was apprended in town, and to-day another, A Walker, aged 20, was arrested in a very wild country at the head of the Pelorus Valley. It is alleged that for several months accused have been committing thefts of provisions, tools etc, and packing them to the back country, where they were supposed to be prospecting. Constable Kemp and Durbridge have been out since Monday after them, and one day they walked over 50 miles of rough country. The accused bad two camps, and it ia stated that they had sufficient stores for nearly two years. The Constable effected a very clover capture of Walker at the secret camp, in the heart of the mountains and about 30 miles from Kelson.
