Live Stock Auction Bill. The Joint Stock Committee this morning decided to recommend |tbe House not to proceed with the Land and Live Stock Auctions’ Bill, which deals with
“trotting" at auction sales, but to recommend the bill to be forwarded to [he agricultural and pastoral associations throughout the colony for suggestions so that it may be proceeded with next session if deemed desirable. Public Works Statement. Wellington, This Day. It is anticipated that the Public Works Statement will bo brought down about the end of the month. As the whole amount to be allocated is smaller than for the last two years, it is officially stated that local allocations will have to be reduoad.
Parliamentary Library, The Library Committee recently wrote to the Premier asking that the fine of £SOO indicted on Watson, ex-president of the Bank of New Zealand, for refusing to give certain information before the Banking Committee be banded over to the Parliamentary Library Fund. At to-day’s meeting a letter was read from Mr Seddon. in which bo stated that the money had been lodged to the credit of the Consolidated Pond, and that it would be necessary to secure the sanction of Parliament to the transfer. It was resolved to approach Parliament with a request for its sanction to the transfer.
