NAPIER MUNICIPAL MATTERS.

(per press association.)

Napier, Oct 2. At the Borough Council meeting tonight several communications were received from firms willing to undertake the reporting on the Council’s proposal to establish electric light and power in N apier. The applications were referred to the Public Works Committee. The Council have selected a site for the morgue behind the Harbor Board’s old offices and will ask the Board to vest the land in the Council for as long a term as possible. 11l disscussing the appointment of a manager for the abattoirs, now in course of erection, it was decided that as Mr A. Crabbe, M R.C.0.5., had been appointed Government Inspector of the Napier abattoirs it would be an advantage to appoint that gentleman as manager and it was understood he would accept the position at a small salary and the Council would thus secure a capable and efficient supervisor at a very moderate cost and would also avoid the possible friction that might occur if the position of manager and inspecting officer were held by different persons.

The appointment was recommended and authority was given to prepare plans and specifications for the erection of a manager’s residence.
