Railway Collision Averted. Melbourne, September 13. _ The incoming and outgoing Boxhill trains collided this afternoon at Jolimont near the scene of the great col* lisision two years ago. The promptitude of the drivers of both trains pulling up prevented an appalling disaster. The driver of the train which left Prince’s bridge, declares that the line was signalled clear, but the signalman denies it. One carriage was derailed. Melbourne, This Day, It was some minutes after leaving their respective stations that the drivers realised that they were approaching each other on the same line of rails. Obituary. Eeceivod this day at 10 16 a m. Sydney, This Day. G. B. Barton, brother of the Premier, and formerly editor New Zealand Jurist. Australian Football Team. Sydney, This Day, The manager of the New South Wales football team attributes the non-success in New Zealand was due to too much travelling, injury to players and loss of the captain. The New South Wales forwards held their own, but the backs wore beaten all the way. He favours only playing test matches in future and New Zealand when they come here only playing State teams in Australia.
