Napier, September 5. At the meeting of the Napier Borough Council last evening Councillor G.H. Bwan, who had been 38 years in Napier, announced his resignation from the Council owing to taking up his residence in Hawera. Councillors made eulogistic reference to Councillor Swan’s service in the Borough and the very great interest he had always taken in municipal affairs, so that during his connection with the town it had been brought to a highly satisfactory stats as to comapre favourably with any other town in the Australian colonies.
It was resolved to place on record the Council’s high appreciation of Councillor Swan’s services and their esteem for him, the testimonial to take the form of an illuminated address. ’
