CHARITABLE AID BOARD.
The usual meeting of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held yesterday afternoon at the County Council Chambers. Present: Messrs. Harris (chair), Joyce, M‘Carthy, Eyall, McLean, Marshall and Hannan. Letter from Auditor ’and ControllerGeneral, certifying balance-sheet.—Re-ceived. A claim of J. Heron of £3 towards burial of Mr. Brown was passed for payment.
The Inangahua Hospital Trustees forwarded an account for the sum of £l4 5s for maintenance of, G. Sough. It seems that Sough was an inmate of the Grey River Hospital for some time before he went to Reefton.—lt was resolved to bring the patient down, to the local hospital. From Borough Council, forwarding a cheque for the sum of £248 19s 6d, being amount of charitable aid levy, stating that it was paid under protest of the rate being unjust.—Received. , Letter from D. McGregor, stating that lie could not order enquiry into the rating of mining properties for charitable aid purposes, as the matter had been settled in September, 1899. Letter from Christchurch Hospital Trustees, asking the board to co-operate with it in view of getting the Government to erect a home for incurables, such institution to be under the charge of Government.—Resolved that the Board give its support towards the project. On the motion of Mr. Marshall, seconded by Mr. Ryall, it was decided to pay for the passage of Mr. Livingstone to the Hot Springs. Resolved that Mrs. Cochrane be allowed £1 per week.
