The Wellington City Council and citizens intend to form a joint deputation to Government as a protest against the clauses of the Public Works Act requiring property owners cutting up properties to dedicate a portion of them for street widening purposes. Land and Live Stock Auctions Bil'. Local auctioneers waited on the Minister for Land regarding the Land and Live Stock Auctions Bill which they allege will result in spoiling the sales of land. The auctioneers and transferring business commission agents indignantly denied that “trotting” of land or stock was general. Duncan requested the auctioneers to supply him in writing with their objections to the measure, and any suggestions as to howthe evils, which the Bill ayned at, could be checked. He assur d the deputation that the Government had no wish to injure auctioneers, and promised to delay the passage of the Bill so that auctioneers in other parts of the colony could be consulted. The Shops’ and Offices’ Bill. The Wellington hardware employees have decided to petition Parliament against the Shops’ and Offices’ Bill, as it is calculated to injure the harmonious relations existing between employers and employees.
