SAWMILLERS CONFERENCE.

Palmerston North, July 25.

A conference of sawmillcrs from Hawke’s Bay, Wairarapa, and Mana watu district, with timber merchants from Wellington city was held here yesterday. The object of the conference being to arrange a scale of prices which would be satisfactory to millers and merchants, it being agreed by both that so far as the consumer is concerned no alteration or existing rates be made for at least three months, The conference also discussed affairs connected with the Arbitration Court business and the Workers Compensation Act, and it is likely that a combination for mutual benefit will result.
