WESTLAND RACING CLUB.
A meeting of the Committee of the Westland Racing Club was held last evening, the President (Mr A. Stevenson) occupying the chair. A quantity of routine business was disposed of. W. Mitchell wrote applying for the removal of the disqualification of three years imposed last January, for unfair riding. Messrs J. Marshall and W. B. Noble wrote supporting the request. A motion was made that the Metropolitan body bo asked to reduce the term of disqualification to twelve months. An amendment was moved that consideration be defererd till January next year. The amendment was carried. The draft of the racing dates was considered and action decided upon. The Chairman reported the progress made in the course improvements, which were proceeding satisfactorily. It was slated that seven feet wore being taken off the ‘hill,’ which would entirely remove that obstacle, and place the course in capital racing condition for all time. The work was being carried out very thoroughly. It was decided to go on with the work of ornamentation, and to order a thousand tree plants for the purpose.
