New Zealander awarded distinguished conduct medals for bravery is Private Langham, of the New Zealand Rough Riders, for gallantry on the Vaal Bank. The Daily Mail publishes further soldiers letters confirming of the shooting of the wounded at Ylakfimtcin.

An official who visited the Boer refugee camps, reports everything satisfactory. The following have been awarded distinguished conduct medals. Their claims are based upon eulogistic mention of bravery:— t Sergeant Davenport, First Australian Bushmen, twice severely wounded at Rhenoster Hop. Corporal May, Cth Austarlian Bushmen ; Privates Angell (since dead) and W. George, Western Australians, for gallantry at Zceberg Pass and additional mentioned in despatches for conspicuous services with the 6th Imperial Bushmen, Lieutenants E. H. Thomas and R. D, Doyle for the capture of Dclarey’s guns and convoy on March 24th.

Lieutenant Christian, New South Wales, A battery, for the admirable manner he handled his section, also described as a very good gunner and horse master.

The following have been mentioned in despatches : —Major Weir, First Australian Bushmen, for dressing Sergeant Davenport’s wounds under fire at Rhenoster Kop.

Private Selby, Gth Imperial Bushmen, gallantry at Gatsrand.

Victorians —Sergt Handford, LanceCorporal Legerwood, and Trooper Browning, for rescuing a man pinned on the ground under a heavy fire.

Lance Corporal Willing for attendin to the wounded under a close fire.

Corporal Walker, Staff-Sergt M’Kenzio, and Troopers Butler, Jamison, and Duncan, for special services at Woolmaranstad.

Sergt. Ward, South Australian; and Private Stocker, Tasmanian Bushmen, for getting behind Schroedor’s laager and enabling nhe British to surround it.
