IS PROTECTION DESIRABLE?
(per press association.)
Marton, This Day.
Branches of the Farmers’ Union have been formed throughout the Rangitikei and Manawatu districts, both sides of politics joining in the belief that protective duties will decrease the revenue, necessitate extra taxation on producers, and handicap them by raising the cost of living. Delegates from the branches will meet in Conference at Palmerston North at the end of July, and arrange a platform iu the interests of producers without regard to political parties.
