Suicide. Auckland, This Day,
Robert Hardy, a councillor of Birkenhead Borough, shot himself dead. He leaves a wife and family. The cause is attributed to ill health.
Fire at Wellington.
Wellington, May 21.
A fire at Smith and Smith’s oil and colour warehouse was smartly extintinguished by the Brigade just after daylight. A considerable part of the stock was damaged by the fire and water. The insurances on the building in the National are £I,OOO and Standard £500; contents in North British £1,500, and in Manchester and Standard £I,OOO, and National Royal and Alliance £SOO each.
