Scarlet Fever in the North Island

Mildness in the form of the disease has been characteristic of the epidemic of scarlet fever, which has prevailed in different parts of the North Island during the last nine months, telegraphs our Wellington correspondent. There has been the not unusual aceompanimeut of sore throats ar,d diptheria. According to an expert, one reason for the diffusing of the disease is the difficulty of securing effective isolation in the average colonial houses. Wooden buildings, moreover, are in some respects favourable to the spread of the disease.
