Provision For Consumptives
A a public meeting at Naseby, to consider tho provisions of the Public Health Act, it was pointed out that as a large number of consumptives from all parts of the colony and abroad flocked there, while the Act gave power to call on tho local bodiei to erect hospitals or a sanatorium, a burden was thrown upon the place which should be borne by the Government. It was resolved—" As the Legislature had, by regulation under the Public Health Act
declared consumption an infectious disease, this meeting took steps to urge upon the Government the necessity for providing in the district an institution for the treatment of consumptive patients, and that a deputation wait on the Minister of Public Health."
