Wellington, May 10.
The Native Minister has declined to agree to the issue of free railway passes to Mahuta to enable him to proceed to Auckland with 300 or 400 followers and make a display at the welcome to the Cormvalls.
The French Consul has been instructed by M. Dcleasse, Minister for Foreign Affairs, to express regret that it will he impossible to scud a French warship to New Zealand during the visit of the Duke of Cornwall.
