Houart, April 11. Mr. Lewis has written Mr. Barton, asking to he relieved of attending, the Federal Cabinet meetings. He intimates that it is probable Sir Phillip Fysh will be appointed to the honorary portfolios held by him. Melboubue, April 11. After Mr. Barton visited Lord Hopetoun the Federal Cabinet held a short sitting. Sir George Turner was absent owing to indisposition. Tho principal matter dealt with was the inquiry from Mr. Chamberlain, whether there would be any objection to Boer prisoners being interned in Tasmania till the end of the war if Tasmania raised no objection. The Cabinet decided to inform Mr. Chamberlain that it was not considered to be in the interests of the Commonwealth to receive the prisoners.
The Federal ministers will visit Parliament House and the exhibition buildin", and decide which is suitable housing for'the Federal Parliament, which will sit four days a week, meeting at 2 o'clock in the afternoon.
