The Federal Commission sat all day in Parliamentary House. Evidence was given concerning the conditions of the manufacturing and agricultural interests and the probable effect of inter-state free trade on those industries, the possible market for New Zealand products in South Australia and vice versa if the duties were abolished. Representatives of the manufacturing industries almost unanimously considered Federation to.be beneficial in opening up wider markets.
