Received this day at 9 2 a.m. London, April 8. The Russian newspapers while ironically thanking Europe for thwarting Russian hopes in connection with the Manchurian agreement state that Russia will now remain in occupation of Manchuria like England remains in Egypt. Li Hung Chang states in an intercepted letter to the Governor of Shansi that the settlement of the Anglo-llussian conflict about Kinders siding at Tientsin has marred his hopes of saving Manchuria. Clung has accepted a recently compiled list of Rectionaries to be punished. Four lesser officials are to he executed, and 91 degraded and dismissed for the murder 242 missionaries with wives and children. Received this day, at 9 12 a m. London, April 8. Having effected a junction with the cable from Hanoi, the capital of Pokin, with the great northern line at Amoy the French are now independent of the British lines.
