(per press association.) Sentenced for Theft. Invercargill, March 27. James Winterburn pleaded guilty to a number of charges of theft at various places. As he is now out on probation for a bicycle theft at Christchurch v he was sentenced to two years' hard labor. The Fire on the Sfcrathgrypa. Dunedin, March 27. Tho fire in the hold of the Strathgrypo broke out again yesterday in a slight degree, but was soon extinguished and the work of breaking out cargo continued this forenoon. Woik in the after hatch had to bo temporarily suspended, tho fumes from burned wool being so pungent that the stevedores could not work. Threo of them were so prostrated that they had to hoisted on deck in baskets. Windsails were rigged up, and after dinner work was resumed.
Railway Appeal Board. The Railway Appeal Board met to-day to hear the appeal of John McDowell (driver) and C. McDonald (fireman) against tho dismissal in connection with the collision at Port Chalmers in February. It i 3 contended by appellants that the signal was not at dangor when the train entered the tunnel. Tho decision will be forwarded to Wellington. Maori Entertainment for the Eoyal Yisitors. Wellington, Tins Day. The Native Minister reports that 200 Maoris from Wanganui take part in the festivities at Botorua in connection with the Cornwall's visit. ' New Produce Markrt.
