Christchurch, March 21

At a meeting of tho Court of Directors of tho Royal Humane Society of New Zealand to-day silver medals were awarded to Wm. Hammond for resuing Lilian Burns from drowning in tho Rangitikei river: to Patrick Nolan for rescuing three men from drowning at Bruce Bay on March 14th 1900 ; W. J. Miller for rescuing Bessie Scot from drowning at Wanganui. Bronze medals were awarded to Mamae Eangitahiaand Ha Pekiha, two Maori girls, for rescuing Kikiranga Oatrom from drowning at Wanganui. G. Dunn and P. M’Caffcrty were granted Ist class certificates for rescuing R. Robertson from an exploding blast at Wai-o-waha ; H. C. Carlyle for rescuing Faydon from being run over at Christchurch. A certificate was directed to bo scut to the next of kin of A. K. Watts, who was drowned at Wanganui in an attempt to rescue Bessie Scott from drowning. Letters of commendation was directed to be sent to A. F, Field for rescuing W, Jacob from drowning at Wellington ; "VV. Harper and D. Johnson for attempting to rescue Mr Laurcnson from drowning at Parsons Rocks, Charleston ; Cecil Dixon, for rescuing H. Roardan from drowning at Mastorton ; J. Knowles, for rescuing Mary Myhill from drowning at Napier; W. biliver and J. Lund, for rescuing T. Barlow from drowning at Davenport; W. Brice, for rescuing Katie Collins from drowning at Lyttelton ; R. Rich, for rescuing a boy from drowning at Lyttelton.
