James, signalman at Stuart-street railway crossing, was run over by the train and killed. There arc no details to hand. Fish Poisoning. Wellington, March 15. In the Tory street fish-poisoning case, the hospital authorities find symptoms like those of irritant poison ; hut, so far, the investigation has failed to discoaer its nature. The patients are now almost recovered. Electric Trams. The tramways’ committee of the City Council to-night reported to the Council in favor of taking a poll of the ratepayers for a loan of £225,000 for the installation of a system of electric tramways. The scheme involves the equipment of a double track between Newtown and Thorn don at a guage of 4ft Sim with extensions to Island Bay, Oriental Bay, the Botanical Gardens and Upper Willis street. A power generating station will also have to be erected. The committee’s report was adopted by the Council after a long debate. Supreme Court. Wellington, This Day.
Justice Edwards in judgment given today supported the Pharmaceutical Society in its refusal to register Richard Ayres as a herbalist, a pharmaceutical or homeopathic chemist. New Zealand Butter.
Cameron, Government Inspector of New Zealand produce at home, reports that there is a difference between the prices of Danish and New Zealand butter in London, It is principally due to the fact that butter from Denmark was sent week after week to the same agents, whereas London merchants have no guarantee that they will be able to handle the same brands of New Zea’and butter season after season.
