LEAGUE OF WHEELMEN.
A meeting of the executive of the "Westland Centro of the League of New Zealand "Wheelmen, was held at Hokitika on Monday. An application for an amateur reinstatement by a r dor recently on the Coast, referred from the North Canterbury Centro to report was referred back without recommendation, the correspondence with the Westport Club on the matter being submitted. It was resolved to ask the Grey and Denniston Cluos whether they intended to remain on the list of active Clubs. The Chairman (Mr Evans) reported that as a result of the representations made by the Centre, the Government had caused the erection of a wire bridge over the Otira Gorge to be taken in hand, and that Kelly’s Creek railway bridge would be planked, while other streams would also bo bridged as money was provided. It was resolved to suggest to the North Canterbury League to agitate for the bridging of the streams on the Canterbury side of the range on the overland road. The votes for the Centre Championship contested at Westport and Hokitika were passed for pryment and the meeting adjourned. I
