GREY FOOTBALL CLUB.

A meeting of the Grey Football Club was held last evening, Mr Adams being in the chair. There were 23 members present.

Arrangements were made to send a team to Canterbury during the coming season.

The Trotting Club proprietary wrote stating in reply to communications received from the Football Club that the Trotting Club would grant the Park free of charge to the footballers for training purposes.

The public men of the town had promised to assist the team as far as possible. It was decided that Messrs Petrie, Hannan, Gieseking, M‘Carthy, Oxenham, Adams and Ashton be requested to canvas the town for subscriptions towards the expenses of the proposed trip.

Mr Grogan was appointed treasurer till the termination of the tour.

It was resolved that Messrs Adams and Hamilton wait on Miss Easson and ask her to work up a concert to supplement the funds the concert to take place in the Opera House. It was decided to hold a fancy dress f otball match on the afternoon previous to the departure of the team for Christchurch, and that the local bands be asked to assist in making the affair a success.

Messrs Adams, Conway, Walton, Grogan and M. Phillips were appointed a selection committee.

There were 80 applicants to make the trip, each of whom will go into practice at once and deposit £1 with the treasurer towards the expenses of the trip. Most probably 20 or 22 will be sent away to play six matches, and the whole number will bo required to go into training on Saturday, the first practice taking place at 2 SO p m on that day. Mr J, M. Hamilton presented a very handsome medal to be awarded by the selection committee to the man wfto practised and trained most assiduously.
