Mr Bussell moved that Government be asked to amend the Workmen’s Wages Act so as to allow Unions to sue on behalf of the workmen. »
Mr Coppersmith seconded. Ho said that if such a course were adopted it would be a great benefit to a great many in coal mining districts. On resuming at 2 p.m. a ballot resulted in there representatives being sent to the Conference to bo held at Dunedin instead of two as supported by some members. Messrs Patz, Betts and Foster were then selected as the delegates. In regard to necessary work at mines on Sunday Mr Green proposed that no alt ration bo made carried. Resolved lhat Council pay expenses of the Gravity Creek Union in connection with the industrial dispute. Mr Shaw and Maddison wvre appointed auditors for the ensuing year.
