Mr M'Queen last night wired us from the Ahaura that the Orwell Creek Dredge had that day been sucessfully launched. Mr Kiagswcll informs us that the Bullcr dredge has reached her ground where she intends starting, and will commence work on Thursday next. This is the best up-to-date dredge on the Coast, and we look forward to her getting steady and good returns. Mr Griffiths is now engaged in boring operations on the Dick Seddon Claim situated at the XI [ Mile, The prospects so far havo been very good from the top of the wash down as far as the boring has reached, and when the bottom is reached very good gold no doubt will be got. The Rocklands, the Premier, and the Welcome dredges arc likely to be amongst the first of tho other dredges that are to work on the Buller river. Mr Stewart and Chapman, who have completed their contract for cutting timber for the Perry's Reward Company's pontoons, arc now engaged cutting for tho Great Woodstock Company, and expect to have their contract completed this week. Tho engineers express themselves as being very pleased with the quality of the timber supplied.
