HOSPITAL TRUSTEES ELECTION
The annual meet ng of contr utors to the Grey River Hospital was I eld last night in the County Council cambers, the Mayor in the chair. The report and balance-sheet being adopted, the election of a trustee in place of the late Mr Nancarrow was proceeded with. The question of who wag entitled to vote was brought Up, when it appeared that the town had not been canvassed; and MrKettle desired to have tile meeting adjoilrncd to enable a list to be obtained. On this occasion the business people had been disfranchised and a few live-shilling subscribers at the last moment created, who now were the only voters. Mr Kerr, who had been nominated, objected to the adjournment, stating that there were a number of subscribers in the room. Mr Kerr was then declared elected, and in thanking those who had elected him, said he had during his 35 years’ residence in Greymouth always done what he could for the lies; pital, and he would do his litrUost to sCU that the institution Was conducted as it should be.
The usual votes of thanks were accorded to the country committees, staff, and honorary physicians.
