The Gordon Highlanders will take it." The men gave a ringing cheer and when the advance was sounded they bounded after their leader with officers at the head. When they came down the slope after a successful charge they were spontaneously cheered by all the other regiments. Many acts of heroism are reported of the rank and file. The total casualties were 134 and th<; Gordon Highlanders lost 29 in the rush through the line of fire.
