STOCK MARKET.

Mr Cbas. Carr reports : — Apiti sale, Tuesday Ist inst.— Owing to the rough weather only a few pens of sheep and 40 head of cattle came forward. There were no buyers present, and only a little business being transacted. Birmingham sale, Wednesday 2nd inst. — This was also a small sale. All the sheep were sold at recent values. Feilding sale, Friday, 4th instant.— For the month of the year this was the largest sale yet held. Between 9,000 and 10,000 sheep and 80 head of cattle were yarded, principally in small lota, and were of good quality. The attendance was large, bat the supply was greater than the demand, owing, probably, to the large number coming forward not included in tho advertisement. Bidding throughout the sale was slack, especially for store wethers and fat and forward ewes. The majority of the sheep, however, were quitted after the sale, at prices in favour of purchasers. Prices realised were as follows : — Birmingham.— Fat ewes, 8s; lambs, os 6d, 5s 8d ; empty 2 tooth ewes, 7s 6d ; fat heifers, £3 3s. Egmont Farmers' Union stock report. — At the bazaar on Saturday, 29th May, a good number of horses came forward, the quality of which was better than we have submitted for a considerable time past, and a fair number changed bands. At Manaia on Wednesday, June 2nd, the advertised number of cattle came forward, mostly well conditioned large steers, but as there is little enquiry for this class of stock at the present time small business was done.
