PRODUCE MARKETS.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report for the week ending sth instant as follows :— Wool— Recent advices from London report; a distinctly favorable statistical position, bnt the market is slow to respond, and there is really no change in values to report. Locally there is no business passing, as all lines are being held for the next fortnightly sale. Sheepskins— Since onr last report we bave do transactions to record, as we are holding all consignments for oar next fortnightly auction sale, which takes place on Friday, the 11th instant, when we shall submit a catalogue fully equal to the last one. The quantity will, however, we think, be better, and we anticipate a very full attendance of buyers. Hides— Consignments are on a small scale and are eagerly competed for, realising satisfactory prices. Quotations are for prime stout ox, 3}d ; medium, 3d to 3£d ; cow hides, 2Jd ; calfskins, 3d to 3}d per lb. Tallow — Supplies are rather in excess of demand, and are somewhat difficult to quit even at a reduction of Is per cwt on our last quotations. We quote — Gooi mixed, 13a to 13s 3d ; inferior, 11s to 12s per cwt. Wheat— Tho market continues firm for whole fowl wheat at 3s lid to 4s per bushel, sacks extra. Oats meet with fair demand, and a considerable volume of business is being, dorm. A further rise is reported from the South, which has bad the effect of hardening values here. We quote prime short feed at 2s 7d to 2s 8d per bushel, sacks in, ex store. Seed long Tartarian and Duns at 2s 9d to 2s 10d, sacks extra, ex store. Chaff— As the season advances the shortness of the supply of prime chaff becomes more palpable, and holders are consequently holding on to their stocks for enhanced prices. A fairly heavy supply of second quality chaff is on the market, and is readily saleable at 75s to 77s 6d per ton, sacks returnable. Prime heavy in oats is worth 85s to 90s per ton, sacks extra or returnable.
