THE CONCERT.

A concert was held in the Town Hali in the evening when there was a very good attendance, the hall being well filled. The opening item was a selection on the bagpipes by Messrs J. Wade and D. Campbell. This was followed by a violin solo by Mr E. Curreen ; Mr A. C. Matheson sang ' Anchored ' ; Miss LaiDg sang ' Afton Waters ' in a very pleasing manner ; Highland fling by Mr J. J. Wade to bagpipes music by Mr D. Campbell. Mr F. Goodbehere sang 'St. Anthony.' ' I don't want to play in your yard ' was given as a duet by tbe Misses Nellie and Bella Laing in character, and was renaarkablj' well rendered for two such young children. An encore was demanded and a verse was repeated. The Becond part of tbe programme was commenced with a selection on the bagpipes by Mr D. Campbell. Mr F. Barlow gave a flute eolo. Mrs E. Palmer sang • Dream Memories. 1 Mr D. Ross danced the Highland fling and in response to an encore gave the sword dance. Miss Laing sang 'Ye Banks end Braes ' ; Mr Matheson saiag ' King Davy,' which was loudly and deservedly encored and in resonse ho gave ' Vanity.' Th« accompaniments were played by Mrs Fowler, Miss Laing, Mrs Tompkins and Mr Chunn. At tbe conclusion of tbe concert a dance was held which was well patronised. The music was supplied by Messrs E. Curreen (violin) and W. Chunn (piano). Dane ing was kept up with good vigor until a late hour this morning.
