Woman's Franchise.
(Per Press Association.) Melbourne, Nov. 27. At a Conference of representatives of country municipalities to consider the Constitution Amendment Act, it was resolved to petition the Legislative Council to reject the Bill. Strong objection is raised to giving women a vote. It is stated that 90 per cent of women had nothing to be responsible for, and there was not five thousand respectable women who wanted to vote. There was simply a few who were always whining about the sins of the world, and these wanted a vote for a special purpose. The proposal to give one vote for manhood suffrage, another for thrift and confine womanhood suffrage to woman ratepayers, was largely supported. ___,__-_.-___.___
