At a meeting oi : the Trades and Labor Council a discussion took place as to the desirability of increasing the pay of the City Council employes and yards>men in the local mills. Assays of stone from a mineral belt near the city show that the oopper ore contains gold in fair quantities. From one lode the assay averaged six penny* weights of gold, which appears to be evenly distributed, while others go up to ten dwts of gold besides the copper. Ad* ditional men are being put on to prospect for further lodes and to open up kuown ones.
