The Political Campaign.

McKeaguo, J. W. Sawle and J. Withell. It is understood, however, that Mr Withell will withdraw, leaving six probable starters in the field. The Government whips are going to have troublesome times. Mr Mills is said to be certain of defeat by Mr T. L. Buick, and at Major Harris' meeting at Mauku, a vote of confidence was negatived. Mr W. H. Montgomery told his constituents at Leeston on Friday night that " hitherto he had always voted against the Elective Executive Bill, but he was not at all sure that he would not change his vote, as the longer he was.in the House it became more apparent to him that, in the best interests of the colony, her best men should be on the Executive. There were some good men — they could not possibly get a better Premier in all New Zealand — but some members of the Executive would never have been appointed by the House, and were not satisfactory to the House."
