Arrival of the Frisco Mail.

DR NANSEN'S GREAT JOURNEY.

1 HISTORICAL RELICS 10,000 YEARS \ OLD. (Per Press Association.) Auckland, This Day. The 'Frisco mail arrived this morning | and will catch the train to-morrow at New Plymouth. I Concerning Dr Nansen's wonderful journey Sir George Baden- Powell, who met the explorer in Hammerfist, writes that Dr Nansen's journey when the world knows all the details will be re- ! garded as the greatest feat of mental and physical endurance ever recorded of any human being. Another account says he was north of 84 degrees north latitude, where no animal life was found to exist. The northerly flight of the birds is believed to be due to their having lost their way, or been blown oat of their course. Remarkable discoveries have been made by American explorers on the site of ancient Babylon which carry baok human history no less than 2250 years further than anything known before. Professor Heilpruth, of the University of Pennsylvania who has charge of the excavations is confident some tablets, upon which he is working, will date back still another 1000 years or about 10,000 yeans earlier than the present day.
