Messrs Abraham and Williams report : Our sales for the week ending were held at Shannon, Pshiatua, and Palmerston. At the former, last Friday, fair bidding and everything quitted, with the exception of dairy stock, » portion of which only was sold. Springing heifers made up to L 4 168 ; cowa, about to calve, L 4 10s to L 5 10s; 20-month steers, L 2 4s. Store ewes, 6s, The entries of sheep at Pahiatua on Tuesday were small, but what were there sold readily. Fat wethers, 18s Id ; store wethers, 10s ; fat ewes, 10a 6d to 11s 4d ; cull ewes, 8s 6d. All classes of steers and young cattle sold freely. The inquiry for temale stock was limited to only a few choice lines, and for these lower rates ruled. Three and four-year steers made L 4 13s ; 3-year do., L 4 4e ; 2-year do., L27s6dto L 3; weaners, 265 ; yearlings, 848 ; springing heifers, L 3 7a 6d to L 3 17s 6d ; fat cows, L 4 16s. At Palmersfcon yesterday the entry of cattle was limited to a few pens. Fat cows and small fat bullocks were well competed for, though perhaps somewhat easier in price. Fat cows made L 4 8s to L 4 14s ; small fat bullocks, L 5 ss. Store bullocks passed out unsold. The bulk of sheep were made up by two lines of boggets that sold from 8s 6d to 9a 7d. The quality was from fair to good, thus registering a decline in price upon rates ruling a month or so ago. The remaining pens were occupied by store wethers and fat ewes. The latter sold freely at 12s Id ; store wethers made 11s. At these prices everything was sold.
