Wool Markets.
The Bank of New Zealand's London produce circular of August sth is to hand : Wool — The fourth series of Colonial wool gales, which commenced on 80th June, closed on 21st July. The net quantity available was about 302,400 bales, of which about 227,000 bales were sold, 120,400 bales for Home consumption 105,000 bales for the Contmeut, and 2000 bales for America, leaving 75,000 bales to be carried over, of which about 145,000 bales are New Zealand wool. With the exception of a cli ght hardening of values towards the close of the series, there has been very little variation in the aspect of Che salea throughout, i Merino produce which showed some slight weakness during the middle portion of the suctions, almost regained the ground lost before the end. This decline was confined principally to the superior and inferior sorts, as Jots of good medium quality sold readily at about May rates to gd per 1b lower. Crosß-breds of all kinds, but more particularly superior parcels met with a strong demand from the beginning to the end of the series. The competition for faulty lots was le9S keen, and values occasionally receded jd per 1b below May rates. Scoured produce was also in good demand, but prices on an average were not quite up to May levels. Sliped wools as a rule maintain |their position.
