The Flax Industry.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, August 12. A deputation representing the flax industry waited upon the Minister of Lands this morning, urging that an expert be sent to America and Great Britain in connection with the grading of fibre, and to make a general canvas of manufactures as to what are the causes injuring the sale of the New Zealand article. Petitions in favor of this course were presented on behalf of Manawatu, Wellington and Marlborough flax growers and they suggested that Mr John Holmes, of Wellington and Marlborougb, should be selected as prader. The Minister promined to give tbe matter full consideration.
