The New South Wales Rugby Union bas decided to forego its claim of j£37 10s against the New Zealand Rugby Union. The Taranaki reps, complain of the treatment they have received at the hands of the Manawatu Union, who had abandoned the proposed match on short notice. On Tuesday evening last, Mr W. Brinkman, late Captain of the Red Star Football Club, was the recipient of a handsome writing case from the members of the Club. The gift was presented on the occasion of his departure from Feilding for Melbourne. Mr Dickson made the presentation, and Mr Brinkman suitably replied. The following will represent Colyton against the " old boys " at Colyton on Saturday next :— Full-back, B. J. Fitch ; half, Hislop ; three-quarters, H. Smith, Garlick, Ivess ; forwards, Greig, Dunn, Humphreys, W. Fitch, Blake, Woodman, Adsett, Gledhill ; emergency, Stevens. Mr J. B. Pringle will officiate as referee. Following are the fixtures of the Canterbury rep. team: — July 30th, South Canterbury ; August Ist, Southland ; July Bth.Ellesmere ; July 20th, Queensland ; July 22nd, Combined Peninsula ; July 29th, Otago (all at Christchurch) ; August Bth, Wellington, at Wellington ; August 11th, Manawatu, at Palmerston. One of the most interesting Junior Championship matches of the season was played at Palmersfcon yesterday afternoon between the Pirate II and Red Stars, resulting in a win for the Pirates by 3 points (a try) to nil. In the first spell the Red Stars had all the best of the game, but in the second spell the game was more even. Crichton scored for the winners shortly before the call of time. The following are chosen to play for Awahuri in their match against Rongotea, at Rongotea, on Saturday next :— Full-back, D. Cole ; three-quarters. W. Mends, Dugnan, J. Bennet ; five-eighths, Sherwood ; half, E. Bennett ; forwards, F. Stuart, Red Pole (wings), G. Mends, O'Reilly (2), Weightman, Campbell, Dermer, Whisker, and Flynn ; emergencies, Tough Rag, T. Stuart, and Toitoi. In their match against Awahuri, on Saturday next, Rongotea will be represented by the following :— Full-back, Green ; three-quarters, Costall (2), J. H. Harper; five-eighths, Broughton; half, Thomas ; forwards, H. Williams, Jarvis, J. Williams, Duthie, S. Penny, Whisker, Hinkley, Broughton, and A. Edwards. | Emergencies — Anderson, Carter, and Edwards. Marton defeated HunUrville yesterday by 8 points to nil. Feilding will be represented by th« following in their match against Foxton, at Palmerston, next Saturday : — Lloyd, Giesen, Robinson, Richards, Jack, Shannon, Stuart, McDonnell, Matrayers, Jackson, Douglas, Bildeebeck, Whisker (2), Farmer. The game is to commence I at 2.15 sharp, as the Foxton players have to reurn home by the afternoon train.
