Detective Kirby.

(Per Press Association.) Wellington, May 31. The Evening Post received an anonymous .letter to-day saying Kirby was shaved by a barber in Hannah's shop, got his hair dyed, and caught the Tainui at Lyttelton. He hinted the sureties connived at the escape. Enquiries, however, quite disprove the accusation. All persons mentioned emphatically deny having seen Kirby or had anything to do with his evasion, and the Tainui and the Takapuna were searched before leaving. May 31. A reward of £250 is offered for information as to the whereabouts of Detective Kirby.
