New Zealand Sheep in Australia.

The Victorian Department of Agriculture has forwarded to New Zealand Department of Agriculture a letter from Messrs Powers, Rutherford and Co., the principal agents for tbe sale of stud sheep in Victoria, written in answer to a communication sent to the Victorian department requesting information as to the prabable market for New Zealand long wool rams this season. In their letter Mgssrs Powers, Rutherford and Co. state that owing to the fact that New South Wale 3 and Victoria are so much understocked in breeding ewes there can hardly be a very keen demand for rams this year in either New South Wales or Melbourne. As regarded Sydney, it depended upon tbe New Zealand vendors themselves. If dealers were going to flood the market in the same way as happened last year the sales must again prove a fiasco. . If, however, only bona fide breeders were represented, and they limited their drafts to really good quality, a fair demand at fair values should result. With regard to Melbourne sales tbe firm say they are in a position to state already that thay will pen up about tbe most representative catalogue of Lincolns in August next tbat has ever been offered there. It is, therefore, absolutely necessary for New Zealand vendors to limit their consignments te small and very select drafts of the highest possible grade. In conclusion they state it should be mentioned that the Melbourne August sales are for stud sheep only. The Sydney sales are held about the be*. ginning of July, and the Melbourne sales about tbe middle of August.
