Bobbery on Board a Steamer.
Q (Per Press Association.) Auckland, May 11. On the Tarawera arriving from Sydney she hoisted the police flag, A detective and three constables went aboard. The Captain said several passengers reported having missed articles. Shortly after leaving Sydney three gentlemen lost three overcoats, another a gold-headed stick, and a lady a mackintosh and a pair of binoculars valued at The police search was unsuccessful. It is supposed the things were taken by Sydney light fingered gentry. Five suspicious characters without tickets cleared off before the steamer sailed.
