The Premier is preparing a Bill, which he intends to introduce next session of Parliament, providing for the establishment of a State Bank on the credit foncier system. He states he is fully convinced of tbe practicability of a Stato Bank within certain limits. * As a result of enquiries in England, Col. Harman, military adviser, has ad vised »he Government at a cost of £30,000 or £'50,000 to establish a cordite factory in Australia The previous estimate of the colonial authorities was from £6,000 to £7,000. As far as can be gathered the stato parties is as follows :—Ministerialists 15, Liiibor 12, Opposition 22, Independent 5. Newcastle, April 27. A meeting of the Bootmakers' Union decided to call out in the morning all the men iv tho factories where the masters bave not notified their intention to continue workiug under the present statement. About 1500 men will be affected.
