♦ (Per Press Association). CuRiSTcnuRCH, April 27. Numerous burglaries have been reported lately. C. Hardy's store at Rakaia was broken into on Saturday night and about £60 in cash and a quantity of jewellery stolen. The premises of the Farmers* Co-opera-tive Association, Christchurch, were entered on Sunday by thieves who were disturbed. They did not get much for their pains. This Day. " The rateable value of city property for 1895 was £189,856. This was less by £3300 than the amount of the previous year. Reefton, April 27. A determined suicide was committed at Mr Cooles' homestead, Blackwater, Grey Valley. A man named Martin Cruse shot himself, firing two shots into bis body. The deed was committed at 7 o'clock this morning. Wellington, April 27. , Mr Greenfield, S.M., again declined to admit to bail Mrs Camille Locher, who has been committed for trial on a charge of attempting to murder George Nor bury in Harcourt's auction rooms some time since.
