Playford's advertisement lor doctors for tbe Adelaide Hospital, and reiterates its warnings as to the acceptance of the positions, further declaring that the Government telegram unfairly states the situation. Sir L. Playford in a letter to the journal, says there are no serious grounds why the doctors should not accept the position Sir J. Panncefote, British Minister at Washington, has been authorised to negotiate upon the whole question with the Venezuelan Minister. Mr Smalley reports the American Government is willing to use its influence towards the acceptance of direct negotiations. Vienna, April 27. The Emperor of Austria gave an audience to Dr Lueger, who was recently again elected Mayor in defiance of the Government. It is expected Dr Lueger will abandon his claim to the Mayoralty in favor a prominent follower of the Government.
