The German barque Berina, bound from Newcastle to Valparaiso with a cargo of coal, put into Lyttelton this morning to obtain medical attendance for the Captain, who is suffering from a severe attack of gout. Another phase of the Dr De Renzi assault case was investigated at the R.M. Court this morning when R. D. Thomas, complainant in that case, was charged with perjury on two infomations laid by Richard Brown, witness in the case, who himself has been committed for trial on a charge of perjury. After a long hearing the charges were dismissed. Wellington, March 26. Mr Pavfitt, manager of the Bank of New Zealand here, has been appointed permanent manager of the Sydney branch. The Post states that Sir Westby Perceval has accepted the position of Chairman of the London Board of Management of Ziman's syndicate. The schooner John Bell, wrecked at Terawhiti last week, is now completely broken up. Auckland, March 26. At the inquest on the Kuaotunu fire the verdict was that the fire started in Heunessy's shop but there was no evidence to show how it originated. The Nguuguru Coal Co. have declared a dividend of 8 per cent, and carried forward £1381. A skeleton was found in Raine's bush near Aratapu with a gun beside it. At the inquest, Brown, blacksmith, identified the gun as one he sold to a man whose name is unknown. The body is supposed to be that of a man named S. R»velJ, but nothing certain is known. It is conjectured it is a case of suicide. Nelson, March 26. News by cable states that Mrs Suter, wife of Bishop Suter, died yesterday at Barhair, Kent, England, her native place. Oamaru, March 26. A beaman on the steamer Poherua, named Karl Krander, fell from the rigging yesterday, as the steamer was off Moeraki coming up the coast, and died in the hospital to-day frain the injuries he received. Masterton, March 26. The case in which Mrs Elizabeth Mary Cameron, of Eketahuna, claimed from John Heenan, of Pahiatua, i3OO for breach of promise, was concluded in the District Court to day. The jury returned a verdict for the plaintiff, and awarded £25 damages. Mr Bunny, counsel for the plaintiff, intimated his intention of moving for a new trial.
