Soudanese Expedition.

DEBATE IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS. (Per Press Association.) London, March 21. In the House of Commons, in order to open up a debate on the Soudan expedition, Mr Morley moved an amendment to the effect, That if Government feared the Mahdi's success would endanger Egypt, the British plans to crush the Mahdi were dangerous and inadequate without a rational basis of operation. Mr Chamberlain said the Government bad determined to enter upon a practical policy of defence of the Egyptian frontier. Mr Balfour said it would be impossible to be satisfied with tie position of affairs until the Soudan bad been re-established under British rule. Great Britain meant to advance into the Soudan to stay. The amendment was rejected by a majority of 143 votes. The War Office is in readiness to reinforce troops in Egypt, and strengthen tb,e expedition. Khalifa has proclaimed Holy war. Several Arab tribes have volunteered to assist the Egyptian expedition. Rqjie., March 22, News has been received that the Dervishes made four separate attacks on the Zadbira defiles near Kassala, but were in each instance defeated by sallies from the fort, and the road reopened.
