Police Court.
♦ At the Police Conrt this morning, be* fore Mr G. Kirton, J.P., George Wells was charged that he did, on December 29th, commit an offence by bathing within the Borough of Feilding — to wit, in the Oroua river, within view of a public road. Constable Tnohy conducted the case for the police and Mr Reade appeared for the defendant, who pleaded " not guilty." Wm. Beck deposed : His property was within the Borough ; on Sunday last saw a lot of young men, amongst whom was accused, bathing in the Oroua river, which was within the Borough ; most of them were undressed, without trunks ; whero they were bathing was within view of a public road. Cross-examined : The men undressed on the Borough side of the river. Mr Reade submitted that the prosecation had failed to show what was the boundary of the Borough of Feilding, and the case should be dismissed. His Worship upheld the objection, and dismissed the case.
