Death of an old Resident.

<Per Press Association) Maeton, Deer. 26. The death of Alexander Milne, an old and respected settler, occurred on Christmas Eve under peculiar circumstances. He was used to go to the Bonny Glen cemeterj\ the family burying place, and it is presumed that in trying to .set fire to the gorse he was overpowered by the smoke, the result being a spasm of the heart. He dropped forward on his face and bis body was burnt. Deceased arrived in Wellington in 1840 by the Lady Nugent. He Bettied in the Hutt, then came to Eangitikei, where be has since resided. He leaves three sons and three daughters.
